As an Inshore Rescue Association we work closely with local Coastguard teams in a variety of incidents. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency strive for safety at sea and they have produced many useful safety links for all age groups on their website. We are proud to support our local coastguard teams in their public campaign for beach and coastal safety.

The first item is of the new Sikorsky S92 based at Stornoway. The current contract provides for commercial search and rescue helicopter services from four civilian-operated bases - Sumburgh, Stornoway, Lee-on-Solent and Portland - for a five-year period from July 1, 2007. The service provides 24-hour coverage at Sumburgh, Stornoway and Lee-on-Solent, and operates on a 12 hour day-time basis at Portland. The Sikorsky (S92) is based at Stornoway in the Western Isles of Scotland and at Sumburgh on the Shetland Islands. In addition, Agusta Westland139s (AW139) are based at Lee-on-Solent and at Portland.
