Welcome

The East Sutherland Rescue Association (ESRA) is an independent charitable organisation which was founded in 1981 following the disappearance of a local lady from Dornoch in East Sutherland, Scotland.  From this moment onwards it became obvious that, although local people were willing to get involved with helping the police there was no organisation that was able to co-ordinate this.

The East Sutherland Rescue Association (ESRA) is a dedicated service to the
Marine Coastguard Agency(MCA) and is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
When launched from Dornoch beach the area ESRA covers is the inner Dornoch Firth and the coastal waters as far as Helmsdale.
Regular trouble spots include Dornoch beach, the caravan sight at Embo, Portmahomack, Golspie and the Dornoch Firth Bridge.

We have now had in excess of 220 incidents during the 25 years of service to the community.

We maintain a close working relationship with the MCA, the RNLI and 202 Squadron SAR based at RAF Lossiemouth.
